Hello and Welcome from Friends of Adaire!
Friends of Adaire works to enrich and support the education at Fishtown's Alexander Adaire K-8 School, a neighborhood-catchment public school in Philadelphia.
Support our 2022-23 Annual Fund
Each year, Friends of Adaire (FoA) sets a communal goal with the intention to inspire Adaire families, community members, and supporters to raise funds to back a yearly, changing mission. With the help of so many we’ve helped make lasting investments in Adaire’s music, science, and arts, and now FoA is excited to announce our 2022-2023 school year Annual Fund Campaign to Bring Mural Arts to Adaire. Projects![]() Here are some of the exciting programs Friends of Adaire has supported over the years
The Adaire Schoolyard is complete! Thanks to incredible investment from The Trust for Public Land, Philadelphia Water Department, School District of Philadelphia, and the community of support around Friends of Adaire. Friend of Adaire Denis Devine lead the efforts to see this incredible project through. |
"After learning about all the great things going on at Adaire at last June's end of year meet and greet with Principal Jenkins, I wanted to figure out how I could contribute to the great things happening in the school. I reached out to Principal Jenkins, we discussed my interests and experience, and she connected me with 7th grade teachers Mr. McGeehan and Dr. Long. The teachers identified a small group of students who could use a bit more attention and reading practice and I meet with them once weekly to practice reading. The teachers provided some resources to use to find appropriate readings for the tutoring sessions. The students and teachers have been great and they deserve more time than I can give. Adaire is welcoming to volunteers with all backgrounds. The first step toward making positive impact at Adaire is connecting and finding where your time and talent can be put to use for our school." |
“So many parents are scared of their local school. You hear so much negativity about what’s going on. But once you step inside, that negativity is gone. The teachers don’t have it, the kids don’t have it. What’s happening inside this school is amazing.” |
