Hello and Welcome from Friends of Adaire!
Friends of Adaire is an association of parents, educators, and community members whose mission is to enrich the education of Alexander Adaire students by providing additional resources and support for the school and its surrounding community. We work closely with families, teachers, staff, the School Advisory Committee, and the Fishtown community to create an inspiring, challenging, and supportive educational environment at the Alexander Adaire school.
"30 in 30" Challenge is Back!
It’s that time again, our annual 30 in 30 Challenge is back! From November 12 to December 11, we’re aiming to rally 30 Adaire families to commit to a recurring monthly donation to Friends of Adaire. Your ongoing support fuels everything we do for our students, teachers, and school community all year long.
Recurring donations are the backbone of this work. They give us the stability to plan, grow, and say “yes” to more opportunities for our students, teachers, and school.
Whether you can give $5, $50, or $500 a month, your contribution helps keep Adaire thriving. Join the 30 in 30 Challenge and help us make this our strongest year yet!

Our Auditorium & Lobby Upgrades Are Complete!
Every year, Friends of Adaire takes on an Annual Fund project to make a lasting impact on our school and community. Past projects have brought us our aquaponics lab, new band and strings instruments, auditorium stage upgrades, our wonderful mural, and much more.
We’re thrilled to share that, after two years of planning and hard work, our Auditorium and Lobby renovation project is officially complete! These refreshed spaces will serve as a welcoming hub for students, staff, and families for years to come. For more pics head here.
Here’s what’s been completed over the last few years
• Auditorium and lobby painted
• Murals installed
• Acoustic panels installed in the auditorium to reduce noise • New ceiling fans
• Damaged auditorium ceiling tiles replaced
• New handrails on stage
• Stage apron wood sanded, refinished, and preserved
• Stage stairs redone
• Hydration station installed in lobby
• New flooring in boys’ and girls’ bathrooms
• Bathroom partitions replaced in girls’ bathroom
• New furniture for lobby
• New sound and lighting for our Drama Club
Coming soon
• New storage lockers in the lobby for our band and orchestra
• Games, activities, and more for a student lounge in the lobby
Thank You to Everyone Who Made This Project Possible
• Jenn Richey Nicholas, Aviva Malz, and the team at Pixel Parlor, who generously donated the design for our incredible murals in the auditorium and lobby, and provided creative oversight for the surrounding projects
• Principal Anna Jenkins and Building Engineer Rob Williams, for coordinating with the School District to get key improvements done
• Ben Volta and Cody Stuhltrager at Volta Studios, for their work installing the mural
• Eddie Sturges, Adaire alum, for his craftsmanship on the stage apron
• And last but certainly not least, the Dorothy and Anthony Bardaro Foundation and our own Marybeth Sgrillo, for funding this
amazing project
Looking Ahead
We’re also excited to announce that this year’s Annual Fund will focus on bringing new additions and improvements to our schoolyard, in collaboration with The Urban Workshop at Temple University’s Tyler School of Art + Architecture. More info to come!
