How to Help
There are many ways to contribute to Alexander Adaire K-8 via Friends of Adaire! In addition to the invaluable gift of time our volunteers make in the classroom and in the community, we fundraise to further the excellent education at Adaire.
In March 2018, we launched our first Annual Fund Campaign to help ensure a steady source of funds for Friends of Adaire's long-term goals. Our 2019-2020 campaign has set a primary goal to raise $22,500 ($50 for every student) to fund Science, Technology, Recess, Engineering, Arts, and Math ("STREAM") initiatives at the school. By investing in these important initiatives, Friends of Adaire also empowers Principal Jenkins to allocate resources to other needs. Please donate to the Annual Fund and help support our students who need to play hard to work hard!
Friends of Adaire seeks to enlist the support of neighbors, businesses, organizations and community members to enhance the education at Adaire. We fundraise to support the priorities identified by Friends of Adaire and Principal Anna Jenkins and we recruit volunteers to help Adaire in a variety of ways. Join us!
We've made donating to support the work of Friends of Adaire easier than ever with the donation buttons powered by PayPal and eBay above. All contributions are tax-deductible! Want an affordable and easy way to give? Click on the yellow "Donate" button above and make your donation a "monthly" donation before you check out! If you wish to designate your gift please make a note in the comments, such as "Annual Fund". If you donate via our eBay for Charity Page, you can make a donation with no transaction fees deducted (works with eBay, PayPal or credit card--sorry no monthly option!).
Thank you! Your support makes our students' continued success possible!
On our eBay for Charity page you can also select Friends of Adaire as your "favorite" charity on eBay to add a portion of your transaction to benefit FoA (or sell an item and designate a portion of the sale to go to FoA). Check out other ways to use eBay to benefit FoA and Adaire here.

Friends of Adaire are helping to connect volunteers to the students and teachers who can use their help! Here's what one volunteer has to say about her experience!
After learning about all the great things going on at Adaire at last June's end of year meet and greet with Principal Jenkins, I wanted to figure out how I could contribute to the great things happening in the school. I reached out to Principal Jenkins, we discussed my interests and experience, and she connected me with 7th grade teachers Mr. McGeehan and Dr. Long. The teachers identified a small group of students who could use a bit more attention and reading practice and I meet with them once weekly to practice reading. The teachers provided some resources to use to find appropriate readings for the tutoring sessions. The students and teachers have been great and they deserve more time than I can give. Adaire is welcoming to volunteers with all backgrounds. The first step toward making positive impact at Adaire is connecting and finding where your time and talent can be put to use for our school.
Tutors needed, especially for 2:45-3:15 p.m. school days!
One of Principal Jenkins' key priorities this year is providing extra help to students who need it in the 2:45 to 3:15 p.m. end-of-the-day "intervention block." And WE NEED YOU! Friends of Adaire are helping to organize volunteers for math/science/literacy enrichment for students. The more, the merrier! If you or someone you know can commit to a weekly shift in that 2:45-3:15 p.m. block, and you can get your state-required clearances, you can help Adaire students make an academic leap! Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or the Adaire office at 215-291-4712 to volunteer!
These are the two clearances you will need to volunteer at the school and work with students: Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance and the Pennsylvania Criminal History Check.
